Countywide police-study results to be presented to Berks residents on July 14

The draft report on a countywide study of police operations will not be revealed publicly until July 14.
That is when consultants from the Police Executive Research Forum, Washington, D.C., will go over the results with municipal officials, police chiefs and Fraternal Order of Police representatives, county Commissioner Kevin S. Barnhardt said.

Editorial: Future of Weiser homestead in the hands of the friends

State aid sought for proposed research center at Reading Regional Airport

HARRISBURG - An industrial research park is critical to Berks County's economic future, but it needs $3.75 million from the state by the end of the year to keep the project moving, community leaders from Berks told legislators Tuesday in a meeting here.
Representatives from county government, economic development organizations and business agree the project is the county's top priority, said Thomas C. McKeon, executive director of the county industrial development authority.

Berks County waiting on several towns for police study to be complete

READING; The long-awaited Police Executive Research Forum study to assess the possible regionalization of Berks County's police forces is nearing completion.
Commissioner Kevin S. Barnhardt told fellow Commissioners Mark C. Scott and Christian Y. Leinbach at a recent workshop meeting that holdouts Laureldale and Mohnton will now comply with the study.
